Rotaire Dryline...
No matter how careful one is when hanging out the laundry, a sudden shower can mean that the washing has to be taken in wetter than it went onto the line. The option is to dry it inside. This causes damp atmospheres and rooms full of wet washing needed for the next day: A NIGHTMARE!
The alternative is to use a tumble dryer. This will obviously waste valuable electricity heating the outside atmosphere and unnecessarily contribute to the global climate change we should all be addressing: ANOTHER NIGHTMARE!!
Climate change is happening; just look at the British floods of summer 2007, not to mention floods in Bangladesh, China, fires across Greece, vanishing ice caps and rising seas. Any doubts about the severity of the problems associated with our profligate use of energy can easily be changed by watching or reading An Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore, who ought to be President of the USA.
OUR CONTRIBUTION: a solution to energy free drying
The first Rotaire samples were tested by over 100 volunteers early in 2007. Improvements have been made as a result and new versions will be on sale in October. Although it has taken over two years of painstaking development and six sets of prototypes to get to the current design, no risks are being taken with the product. It has to be right because WOMEN KNOW BEST about washing!
We all know that natural drying is best. The Rotaire Dryline is designed to fit existing rotary airers to provide a weather and bird proof cover which allows air to circulate freely through the washing. A weighted mesh skirt surrounds the durable polyethylene cover, carrying sideways rain clear of the washing. In summer, the Dryline actually accelerates the drying time so that 2 or even 3 loads can be dried outside in a day!
A storage cover is now available so that you can simply fold down the dryer and Dryline together and cover them for storage.
It has also been researched that the cost of tumble drying for a family of four is £80-£100 per year. This means that the Rotaire Dryline will pay for itself within the first 6 months!
What is your airer like?
Rotary airers (dryers, washing lines, whirligigs, clothes lines - call them what you will) come in many forms. It may be square (4 arm) or triangular (3-arm). It may or may not have a removeable top cap on the central post. Most have a removeable cap. The "Classic" version fits airers with a removeable top cap on the central post. It is available to fit square (e.g. S1800) and triangular (e.g. T1800) airer types.
The "Adagio" version fits airers without a removeable top cap. This version drains towards the centre and is currently available only for square airers (e.g. B1800). Triangular "Adagio" covers are available as special order only.
SIZE MATTERS
Rotary Dryers come in different sizes so it is important that we supply the right size. Measure from the tip of one arm to the tip of the adjacent arm all round the airer. The lengths will probably vary - it's amazing we don't notice! If the length varies, take the average length and use it to work out the cover you need.
